<<return>>So there you are, walking into your friend Jen's Halloween party, thinking, like some kind of idiot, that this is going to be fun! You'll chat with some people, have a few drinks, eat some mini candy bars, good times will be had by all.

But then, //just// as you get in the door, you feel a prickling at the back of your neck.

Oh.

Oh, //fuck//.

You know what that means.

[[Tonight is a full moon, and in a little over an hour and a half, you're going to turn into a wolf.|Intro2]]It wouldn't be //dangerous// for you to transform here, exactly. You retain enough of your human intellect that you're not going to go on a rampage and devour anything, except maybe the contents of the snack table. But boy, would it be mortifying.

You could, of course, leave the party immediately, but the thing is, that would be weird. Also, rude. But mostly weird. It would provoke questions. "Oh, hi, Jen, I know I just got here, but I have to leave. Why? Uh, I have an appointment. That I forgot about. Yes, on a Saturday night. What do you mean, that doesn't make sense?"

No. No, for propriety's sake, you have to stay, oh, maybe... thirty minutes? That's the minimum socially acceptable amount of time to stay at a party, right? You have to spend at least thirty minutes not acting visibly weird, and then you have to extricate yourself without arousing suspicion.

That's not so hard.

You hastily make your excuses, leave Jen's house, and walk down the street, not really heading toward anything in particular, just trying to get as far away as possible. About a block down, there's an apartment building with a convenient dumpster in its parking lot; you barely manage to get behind it before the transformation takes hold.

So, okay, at least you don't have to figure out how to explain anything to anybody, but this still sucks. You have to walk all the way home, because you don't think they'd let a wolf ride the bus, even if you were carrying your bus pass in your mouth. Speaking of which, you manage to drag your bag home with you, but you can't figure out how to handle the clothes, so you just have to leave them there behind the dumpster. The cat ears and tail are whatever, but you were also wearing just a regular black shirt and pants, and you //liked// those pants.

Oh well. You guess this is a valuable lesson about not pushing this kind of thing too far, or something.

About three-quarters of the folding table, with its bat-print disposable tablecloth, is taken up by assorted bottles, some of which you recognize and many of which you don't. The question is, do you stand up on your hind legs and try to reach it from the floor, or do you get up on the counter and sort of stand over the sink?

[[Turn it on from the floor.]]
[[Turn it on from the counter.]]The only obvious way to get at the fruit from the floor is to knock the table over, and your downstairs neighbors will probably not appreciate that. You could also get on the couch and try to reach the bowl from there, but it's a bit of a stretch.

[[Knock over the table.]]
[[Get up on the couch.]]You shove your snout under the ratty old armchair, but you don't see any snacks. In retrospect, this isn't really surprising, because you never really sit in that chair. Come to think of it, why do you even have it? That is, obviously the reason you haven't gotten rid of it is that it's too much effort to drag it down to the curb on trash day, but you're not really sure when or why you got it in the first place. Weird.<<addmins 5>>
<<set $chair to true>>

<<return>>The table is up against a wall and is not very large, so you have to kind of press yourself up against the wall to knock it over. It's awkward, but you do succeed.
